Taipei, Republic of China (Taiwan), November 04, 2022 (Embassy of St. Kitts and Nevis) The Embassy of Saint Kitts and Nevis in Taiwan is once again participating in the Taipei International Travel Fair. The event, in its 30th year, is organized by the Travel Visitors Association. The fair is being held at the Nangang Exhibition Center from Friday 4th to Monday 7th, 2022.

Last year, the Embassy’s booth was awarded the ‘Best Pavilion Award’ which was given to 10 of the 200 plus participants. This year, the Embassy is hoping to capture a similar award even though there are now over 1,200 booths.

Mr. Donya L. Francis, Charge d’Affaires in the Embassy of Saint Kitts and Nevis, said that the country’s participation in events such as this one is important to strengthen relations with Taiwan and educate its people about the world outside of Asia.

“Every year, we participate in this event so that our friends here in Taiwan can get travel/tourism information about our paradise. Here, we present Saint Kitts and Nevis as an alternative travel destination. We encourage them to look beyond the distance and see the beauty and wonderful unique experience that await,” explained Mr. Francis.

This year’s booth has a similar concept to the one displayed last year, however, some modifications were made. It is called ‘’From the Ocean to the Bar”. The booth depicts a bar on the beach with a boat that travels between the two islands. A small golf course is also next to the beach. Rums and hot sauces made by Kittitians and Nevisians are on display.

Visitors to the booth are provided with information about Saint Kitts and Nevis via brochures, maps, games, a video display, and music. The Embassy has prepared customized giveaway items such as t-shirts, caps, folders, pens, tote bags, smart cards (used for transportation in Taiwan) and face masks.

Mr. Francis revealed that some nationals will be performing on the main stage on Saturday 5th at 1:30 pm (Saturday 1:30 am in Saint Kitts and Nevis). This, he said, is a first for Saint Kitts and Nevis as over the years nationals only performed at the booth.

“We have some talented musicians, we call the ‘Sugarcanes’, along with some dancers who have come together to put on a performance for the visitors. We are excited for the opportunity to showcase our culture in grand style at the fair while we encourage everyone to ‘Venture Deeper’ into the Caribbean most beautiful paradise, Saint Kitts and Nevis.”
