Taipei, Republic of China (Taiwan) (5th December, 2022) – Two machines that will aid in the treatment of hemodialysis patients are on their way to Saint Kitts and Nevis, thanks to the Taipei Veterans General Hospital and the WS Far IR Medical Technology Co., LTD in Taiwan.
On 5th December, 2022, a ceremony was held at the hospital’s hemodialysis center to officially present two Far- Infrared Therapy (Firapy) machines to the Federation.
The Firapy machines, that were handed over by Mr. Chyi–Ran Lee, President of the WS Far IR Medical Technology Co., LTD., allow for a more efficient, less time–consuming treatment for patients with kidney–failure issues.
Resident Ambassador of Saint Kitts and Nevis to Taiwan, His Excellency Donya L. Francis, received the machines on behalf of the government and people of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
In his remarks at the brief ceremony, Ambassador Francis conveyed words of gratitude to the hospital and the medical technology company for the donation.
“As we continue to improve our healthcare system, we must also improve the health of our people and the quality of services we provide. I am extremely grateful for this timely and valuable donation of these machines,” Ambassador Francis said.
He further added, “We are also grateful for the continued support we receive from Taipei Veterans General Hospital.”
The ceremony was attended by the hospital’s Vice Superintendent Dr. Wui–Chiang Lee, Chief of the Nephrology Division, Dr. Chi–Ching Lin, other hospital officials, and six (6) healthcare professionals from Saint Kitts and Nevis, who are currently completing a six– weeks program at the Taipei Veterans General Hospital.
The Firapy machines are made in Taiwan and are being used by hospitals in several countries including Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
